Group Leadership Visits Europe to Study New Energy Commercial Vehicle Development

From September 7 to 16, Wang Zhijian, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, visited Sweden, Romania and Germany, where he visited leading companies and technology firms including Scania, Decade Energy, Einride, MHS and MEILLER to gain first-hand insights into the latest developments across Europe’s new energy commercial vehicle value chain.

On September 8, Wang Zhijian held talks with Christian Levin, CEO of TRATON and Scania. The two sides exchanged views on developments in the global commercial vehicle industry and trends in the transition to new energy. They agreed to continue embracing the concept of “coopetition”, deepen exchanges and cooperation in cutting-edge technologies, green transformation and global markets, and jointly promote high-quality, green development in the global commercial vehicle industry.

Decade Energy is a European provider of charging solutions for battery-electric heavy-duty trucks. On September 8, Wang Zhijian visited Decade Energy and held talks with Carl-Magnus Norden, Chairman and Co-Founder of the company. The two sides discussed the requirements of European fleet operators, infrastructure and service networks, and agreed to work together to develop battery-electric heavy-duty truck solutions tailored to local operations in the European market.

Einride is a Swedish freight technology company specializing in electric and autonomous transport. On September 9, Wang Zhijian visited Einride and held talks with CEO Roozbeh Charli, focusing on operating models for battery-electric fleet transport-capacity services. The two sides expressed their intention to leverage their respective strengths and explore cooperation opportunities in areas such as autonomous battery-electric heavy-duty trucks and energy-replenishment infrastructure for European applications, with the aim of jointly developing sustainable and intelligent freight solutions.

MHS is one of the largest commercial vehicle dealership groups in Central and Eastern Europe and a strategic partner of SINOTRUK. On September 10, Wang Zhijian visited MHS and held talks with its founder, Michael Schmidt. The two sides noted that SINOTRUK has a mature portfolio of premium products as well as well-established spare-parts and service systems, fully aligned with the development needs of Europe’s premium market. They expressed their hope to deepen strategic cooperation and jointly expand the European commercial vehicle market.

MEILLER is a leading European manufacturer of superstructures for construction and special-purpose vehicles. On September 11, Wang Zhijian visited the MEILLER plant and held talks with CEO Michael Stomberg, exchanging views on Europe’s construction and special-purpose vehicle market and the development of new energy special-purpose vehicles.
